Having broken through for a maiden victory at the highest level last time out, Suavito ($2.30) has opened as and maintained status as clear favourite in 2015 Blamey Stakes betting markets ahead of Smokin’ Joey ($4.60) and Guest Of Honour ($9) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Will Suavito continue her perfect record in 2015 with success in the 2015 Blamey Stakes, or will one of her classy rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Smokin’ Joey ($4.60)

Smokin’ Joey has returned to racing in exceptional form this season, and is more than worth consideration for a 2015 Blamey Stakes bet at current odds for success. A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2014 edition of The Goodwood (1200m), the Encosta De Lago gelding placed a credible fourth in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) first-up on January 24th; returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 3 Carlyon Cup (1600m) before placing an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) last time out. Allocated the ideal barrier 3, the conditions of the 2015 Blamey Stakes should play into the strengths of Smokin’ Joey.

2nd

Sertorius ($10)

Sertorius is a proven first-up performer, is likely to receive the run of the race form barrier 5 and is therefore more than worth consideration for a 2015 Blamey Stakes bet at current $10 odds for success or $2.75 to finish in the first three. Posting a commendable record of nine wins and a further 13 minor place finishes from his 35 career starts so far, trainer Jamie Edwards has been thrilled with the condition of the veteran leading into his racing return and is confident Ryan Moloney will again get the best of his galloper on Saturday.

3rd

Suavito ($2.30)

Trainer Nigel Blackiston was understandably thrilled with the first-up performance of Suavito for success in the Futurity Stakes, and is confident his runner is again a leading chance for success in being charged with carrying just 57kgs. Securing six wins and seven minor place finishes from just 16 career starts, Suavito has been confirmed to be partnered by champion jockey Damien Oliver, but may find the early going difficult from the somewhat wide barrier 8 on Saturday.
